We're proud of our accomplishments and the recognition we've received over the years; at the same time, we know there's much more to be done.

The Clorox Company was ranked #77 in the 2009 Newsweek Green Rankings of S&P500 companies.
The Clorox Company was named a Green Icon by Working Mother’s Magazine.
Clorox was recognized by EPA’s DfE program as a Safer Detergent Stewardship Partner.
Clorox received the Chlorine Institute’s Chairman’s Award for 25 years without an EPA reportable chlorine incident.
Glad® 100 percent compostable bags won the “Overall Best Product in Show” and the “Best New Product” in the Household Products Category at the 2009 Best New Products of Canada show.
Brita was awarded the PR News’ Corporate Social Responsibility Award for its “Filter for Good” campaign.
Clorox’s General Office building and its Bentonville, Arkansas office achieved Energy Star certification.
Clorox’s Latin America Regional Office moved into Miami’s only LEED certified building.

Since its January 2008 introduction, GreenWorks® has become the #1 natural cleaning brand in the US and has received the following awards and recognitions:
- Innovation Award by the Grocery Manufacturer’s Association (GMA).
- Canadian Grand Prix New Products Award.
- One of four 2008 Wal-Mart sustainability awards.
- EPA’s Design for Environment (DfE) certification.
- The Good Housekeeping Seal.
- Our Green Works® Natural Bathroom Cleaner was one of the first natural cleaners to earn the Green Good Housekeeping Seal.
Burt’s Bees, our natural personal care products division, earned the following awards and recognitions:
- Natural Solutions Magazine – Beauty With a Conscience Awards: Men’s Shave Cream, Vitamin E Bath and Body Oil, Lip Shimmer, and Peppermint Foot Lotion.
- Alloy U Cause Celeb – #1 Most Socially Responsible Brand in Personal Care.
- Packaging Association of Canada – Sustainable Packaging Leadership Award - Silver.
- Carolina Recycling Association – Best Business Recycling Program.
- Carolina Recycling Association – Honorable Mention - Volunteer Leadership Award.
- Triangle Business Journal – Green Award, For Profit Educational Program of the Year - ECOBEES.
The Mexican government’s environmental agency, PROFEPA, certified Clorox Mexico as Industria Limpia (Clean Industry) for its continuous improvement in waste management, natural resource usage, environmental risk reduction and fulfillment of local regulation and environmental quality in manufacturing processes. Clorox Mexico has been certified since 2004.
Clorox earned the Energy Star rating from the Environmental Protection Agency for our headquarters building in Oakland, California.

In 2006, the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection recognized our Kingsford® charcoal plant in Parsons, W. Va., with an Environmental excellence award. Ours was the only facility in the state with more than 100 employees to be honored.
In 2006, our Aldo Bonzi, Argentina, plant received the Certificate of Environmental Aptitude from the Argentina Environmental Agency for its environmental management procedures.
In 2005, our operations in Australia received a gold award from the Packaging Council of Australia for their packaging covenant and sustainability action plan.
In the 1990's, we recieved many environmental recognitions and awards, including:
- In 1996 and 1998, we were honored as a WasteWise Program Champion. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's WasteWise program promotes the development of corporate recycling programs.
- In 1993, Fortune magazine listed The Clorox Company as one of the top 10 companies in environmental management, citing the company's continuing reduction of airborne releases and further elimination of virgin material from product packaging.
- In 1992, our manufacturing facility in Aberdeen, Md., was one of only three buildings worldwide to receive the Distinguished Environmental Planning Award from the Industrial Development Research Council. We were selected based on our attention to energy conservation and preservation of a wetlands area on the 150-acre site of the new plant.
- In 1992, we were named an Honor Roll Company for our achievements in environmental quality management by the National Environmental Development Association.
