Employee safety and human rights are of vital importance. In addition to complying with government regulations around the world, we have well-established systems to help us identify, track, report and improve workplace safety. Clorox also requires extensive safety training on topics such as safety & environmental, front-line leadership, general safety, ergonomics & back safety, protective equipment, and emergency response.
Clorox prohibits the use of forced, bonded or otherwise illegal labor. We meet, and often exceed, wage requirements and local family leave laws worldwide. We recognize workers' freedom to associate with each other and organize. We encourage constructive communications among employees at all levels, without fear of reprisal, regarding issues that impact their jobs or the company in general. Employees can report suspected illegal, unethical or unsafe activity confidentially and anonymously through an independently operated compliance hotline.
Clorox employees are welcome to participate in the political process and engage in political activities of their choosing. In personal civic and political affairs, however, employees must make clear that their views and actions are their own, and not those of Clorox.
At Clorox, we foster a “safety as a value culture” in all of our offices and manufacturing facilities worldwide. We believe that personal ownership extends beyond ones self and delegate authority to all employees to identify and eliminate risk. We provide training and education on hazard awareness, recognition of unsafe conditions and provide reporting and processes to encourage action to reduce risks and prevent personal injury or illness, both at work and at home. The foundation of this culture combines the use of traditional safety practices with behavior-based safety processes. We encourage employee involvement and participation in creating and maintaining a safe work place. As a result of our commitment to the safety and well-being of our employees, our overall corporate incident rates continue to decline. The Corporation’s Recordable Incident Rate through December 2009 for the entire Clorox Organization is 0.72, well below our targeted goal of 1.0. The Corporation’s Lost Time Rate was also below our target, showing 0.20 vs. a 0.30 goal.
Our success as a corporation has been a result of the hard work and dedication of all employees at our locations and plants around the world. With their continued ownership and participation, our vision of a Zero-Incident Workplace can become a reality.
The following is a list of North American locations that have operated one or more years without a reportable incident:
